A Book That Found Me When I Needed It Most
Reviewed in the United States on July 4, 2026
I didn’t find this book—it found me.
I had the privilege of meeting the author by chance in downtown San Diego during one of the most painful seasons of my life. She introduced herself and shared her book with me, and looking back, the timing couldn’t have been more meaningful.
Reading How Do You Feel? gave me the opportunity to slow down and truly reflect on myself. It helped me recognize my own self-worth, understand the emotions I was carrying, and become more aware of what I give to others in my relationships and daily life.
This isn’t just a book you read once and forget. It’s one that encourages honest self-reflection and personal growth. I’m grateful our paths crossed, and I would recommend it to anyone navigating a difficult chapter or simply wanting to better understand themselves.

thoughtfully crafted and impactful resource
Reviewed in the United States on March 26, 2026
“How do you feel?” — a question so often asked in passing, yet one that carries
profound weight when truly considered. How Do You Feel by Rabbi Nicole
Leigh is a thoughtfully crafted and impactful resource that I believe belongs in
every therapist’s office, family practice, and school setting.
As a licensed Therapist and Social Worker with over 30 years of professional
experience, I have worked with individuals across the lifespan navigating the
complexities of the human experience. It is rare to find a resource that is both
accessible and deeply meaningful across age groups, but this book achieves
exactly that. It is both child-friendly and universally relatable, making it a
powerful tool for reflection and emotional exploration.
Rabbi Nicole Leigh guides readers through the everyday struggles and
challenges of life in a way that feels natural and unforced. Without rigid
structure, she invites readers into a process of self-reflection, encouraging
them to explore their thoughts and emotions with honesty and curiosity. The
simplicity of her approach is what makes it so effective—it meets individuals
where they are.
In my own practice, I keep this book readily available on my shelf and
frequently incorporate it into sessions with younger clients. I often make
copies of key sections to use as guided tools in our work together. It
consistently helps facilitate meaningful conversations and emotional
breakthroughs.
This is more than just a book—it is a practical, life-affirming resource that can
genuinely make a difference. I strongly recommend How Do You Feel as an
essential addition to any therapist’s library.
